Adam Morrison to the NBA, so they say.
Well, nothing's official yet, but reports Monday night say that Adam Morrison will forgo his senior season and go to the NBA. The Gonzaga forward is expected to announce his decision at a press conference on Wednesday. 
I don't think this decision shocks anyone. He was the nation's leading scorer last season with 28.4 points per game, Player of the Year runner-up (to J.J. Redick), and a first team AP All-American, the second in Gonzaga history (the first was Dan Dickau in 2002). He made such an impact this year, it would be hard for him not to go. I mean, the kid had 5 games this year in which he scored over 40 points. That's pretty damn good. What are the chances that he makes himself look better next year? Plus, he's already projected as a lottery pick this year. Most mock drafts have him going in the top 3, so why not go now?
When he does officially declare, he will be joining a draft class that includes Rudy Gay from UConn and J.J. Redick from Duke, to name a few. To see a pretty complete list as of April 4, click here. Chris Ford of ESPN also has some good analysis here.
Lastly, keep in mind that Portland has a very good chance of getting a very high lottery pick this year, actually, the first pick. Let's hope we don't waste it on another 5-8 point guard out of high school huh? If only we'd picked Michael Jordan...

I have to play devil's advocate and hope that the Blazers do not select Adam Morrison. First off, he's a scorer and that's all he does. I keep hearing comparisons to Larry Bird, but Bird could rebound like a mad man. Double digit rebounds in his last year at Indiana State if my memory serves me correctly, (and it does, I'm looking at his stats on ESPN right now). Morrison averages just over 1 rebound a game, pathetic at either forward position. And to draft Morrison to play the shooting guard position is absolutely insane for the Blazers, as the Blazers have an abundance of guards.
Morrison is also slow as hell, and I hate to be the one to mention it, but he is a diabetic. While some diabetics like Chrid Dudley, a former Blazer himself, have made succesful NBA careers, the wear and tear of the NBA is just too much, especially for the slow recuperative abilities of diabetics. Morrison will not play nearly as much over his career as a comparable player who does not have diabetes. I really feel like a bastard mentioning it, especially with a lot of my family having diabetes and myself being at a huge risk for it, but it is a huge negative.
The Blazers would be much better suited taking Noah (if Noah even declares, which at this point he hasn't) than Adam Morrison. Let's face it, the Blazers will have one of the top three picks in the draft, and Morrison just isn't a top three pick.
And by the way, why'd you have to diss Telfair? While hasn't produced much in the first two years of his career, he is out of high school. I will stake my idiotic fanship of sports on this statement, Telfair will be an All-Star before his career is over. It might not happen with the Blazers, but Telfair is has just too many raw skills to not be an incredibly succesful player. He just needs time and polish and he'll be great.
Well, when I said 5-8 point guards out of high school, I was obviously referring to Sebastian, but I was also implying Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw, and Qyntel Woods. Jermaine O'Neal can make that list too, but he was drafted in '96. The point is that we have drafted high school players with our first round picks for the last 4 years. The problem is that none of these players have done anything! I don't want to hear any garbage about Sebastian being a team leader or any of that shit either, because he's not. Sure, Sebastian was good in high school, so was Martell, he was amazing, but they haven't done anything for us. Not even Jermaine did anything for us. We really wouldn't let him though. We made him ride the bench for years, then traded him. That year, he exploded into a superstar. Coincidence? Nope, it's the Blazers. I guess who I should have been dumping on was the Blazers organization and their shitty decisions, and not the 5-8 point guards out of high school.

I think that Morrison is going to flop as hard as most of these top picks do and become another role player somewhere in a low market team. I will be willing to bet that the only time we hear his name will be in reference to his lack of defense. He can score. So can a lot of players, but lets see what he can do against NBA defenses in comparison to the resistance put up by a team like Loyola Marimount. So I bet Portland will pick him up and we will get to see a lot of him crying up massive tears running down onto his 13 year old's mustache when his new team will continue to set the standard for losing.
