Oregon holds on and knocks off #1 UCLA

Time to celebrate! Oregon just beat #1 UCLA 68-66, giving them the #1 spot in the Pac-10 and a real boost surging into the heart of the season. After a tough loss to USC two days ago, the Ducks came back with something to prove and, with Aaron Brooks leading the way with 25 and Maarty adding 18 and 7, played a great game to knock off the best team in the nation. It's hard to believe we'll move down in the polls, even with the loss, because the two games should essentially net out and I think we'll stay put around #16. Coming out of halftime up 10, we held them off the rest of the way, never trailing. In the final two minutes, we gave up a few costly turnovers and took a few bad shots which resulted in quick UCLA points, eventually tying the game with about 30 seconds left, but Aaron Brooks again came through with a big 2 to put us up 2 with 13 seconds left, and then Maarty came in with some big D against their shooter, as he had all game, forcing him to put up a bad shot and giving us the win. We played pretty well as a team today. We were on the receiving end of a lot of lucky turnovers, and Tajuan and Champ didn't play too well, but it didn't matter. When the buzzer sounded, Ryan and I jumped up and yelled and cheered and scared Olive (the dog) half to death I'm sure. I am very excited, and that puts me in a great mood, plus Simi Fili made it official at the Army All-American football game earlier, so I'm going to go enjoy my day. GO DUCKS!

Great game! And I think they will move up in the polls for sure, as several other teams in front of them were upset, as USC is considered a great team as well, and because they beat the #1 team in the nation from the well-recognized #1 conference in the nation. I think they'll move down close to #10. With the win over UCLA, the USC super-close defeat will not hurt them.
