The Proposition Movie Review

The Proposition, written and composed by Nick Cave, is a gritty, poetic Western about the pursuit of justice, loyalty, and life, with a sense of "real" pulsing throughout. The look and feel of this movie are totally authentic, Guy Pearce and cast put together amazing performances, and the story is remarkably balanced in its chaos. It perfectly juxtaposes hate and tolerance, beauty and ugliness, intelligence and ignorance, and tells it all so beautifully. Brilliant changes in tempo, mood, atmosphere, intensity, and music, even very subtle ones, all compliment the films progression and very much drive what otherwise may seem like a slow-paced drama. It is one of the greatest slow-moving films I've ever seen, and I'm very surprised that I didn't hear more about this film when it came out earlier this past year, and it certainly deserved a wider release in the U.S. than it received.

On the Reganometer, I give this movie a 9 out of 10, with emphasis, and say you MUST see this movie.

In total agreement. One of my favorites from last year. Still recall the characters and remember their deep impression.
