Oregon Announces New Athletic Director

It's Pat Kilkenny. If you click that link, you'll see his management bio from Arrowhead Insurance, his company that he sold last year for over $1 billion. He is from Oregon, went to the U of O, and has been a close friend of the athletic department ever since, so he will certainly treat the Ducks well, and I think it's a good fit. Plus, he's a real nice guy with loads of connections, so I'm sure fundraising won't be much of a problem. As far as his experience in this type of position goes, he has none, just his insurance business background, but I'm sure he can do the job.

He's signed a 2 year contract, and if you're finger is on the Duck pulse, you can probably sense that maybe that's when they'll get Vin Lananna, the current track & field coach. He was the favorite with anyone you talked to, but I assume the reason he's not the new AD now is because he's got so much on his plate already with the 2008 Olympic Trials coming here in '08 and all, but after that, unless Kilkenny is a huge success, I have a feeling he'll be taking over. Until then, Kilkenny it is, and I think it was a good choice.
