Ducks beat Fresno 52-21, See Big Jump in Polls

After Oregon's 52-21 win over Fresno St. yesterday, they got a big boost in the rankings, jumping 6 spots in the AP and 8 spots in the USA Today poll, landing at #13 in both. Click the picture to see the whole top 25. You can read the whole post after the jump

So, the Ducks beat the hell out of Fresno St. yesterday. At no point did it look like Fresno might give the Ducks any trouble, and that surprised me. Fresno took Texas A&M to 3 OTs last week, so I thought they'd give the Ducks a run for their money, but that didn't happen. The Ducks had a lot of things go right yesterday. Dennis Dixon kept with his Heisman-caliber season, going 14-for-20 for 139 yards and 2 touchdown passes, and running for 59 yards with 1 rushing TD. Jonathan Stewart ran for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns, including one untouched 88-yarder up the gut. This win was Bellotti's 100th win, and Autzen Stadium's 50th straight sellout. So it was a big day in Eugene.

With this win, we jumped to #13 in both polls, which was way higher than I thought we'd get. People must give Fresno St. more credit than I do. We have Stanford next week, so we might not get much higher than that going into the Cal game. It is at home, but Cal is playing very well this season, so it should be a great game. But seriously, if we keep playing this well, I really do think we can beat Cal. The winner of that game will really be the one that will have the best chance to knock off USC, and if that's us, we have USC at home too, so we have all the breaks going our way.

As I've said before, I am a total Ducks homer, but you know what? Like them or not, they're playing great, and you really can't argue with that. GO DUCKS!
