Dad got a new iMac

Two days ago I was talking to my dad, and he was mentioning how his computer (a 2001 Sony Vaio desktop) was crapping out on him. Being the wannabe techie I am, this immediately piqued my interest. First, I wanted to know what led him to think that, besides the general slow down that age brings to a computer. He let me know it was making these noises and shutting down on him at random times, so it was basically time to get a new one.

Now, I've had hard drive problems in the past, my laptop crashed on me randomly one night, so I like to think I have a little experience with this, and what he was explaining sounded like that's what it could be. So I recommended he think about a Mac. I gave him the whole pitch on why I thought it would be a good idea for him, and this is from a Windows user, so there was no fan boy influence. That pretty much ended the conversation.

Yesterday, he called me up around 4 o'clock, from work, asking if I would be home when he got there. I was watching Transformers on HD-DVD over at Colin's at that point (which was incredible!). Basically, he called to tell me he was going to leave work early and wanted to go get a new computer. That's how impulsive my dad is, that he made the decision to get a new Mac in about 24 hours. I told him I'd be home when the movie was over. Right when the movie was over and I was packing up my stuff, he calls again and asks if I'm on my way.

So, when I got home, my dad and Matt were waiting by the door, ready to head out to the Apple Store. You get the idea of how excited my dad was?

So, needless to say, we were in the store for about 15 minutes before my dad said something like "I think I'm sold." That was easy, huh? So we walked out with a new 20" iMac and a new printer to boot. We got home, I set it all up, and now, the next morning, I'm blogging on it.

I'm so glad the old one is gone. My god was it slow and bogged down with random crap. So, that's my story.
