Heath Ledger is Dead

The news has just broken that Academy Award nominated Australian-born actor Heath Ledger was found dead today in his NYC apartment. He was 28. Authorities are saying drugs may have been involved.

Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let him know the masseuse had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

This is crazy news. Ledger was a great actor and what used to be a "chick flick" career was really starting to blossom into serious roles. As you all know, he will play the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie "The Dark Knight", and with this tragedy that whole experience is going to change; be a bit eerie.

He was 28, which is so young, but on a note of gallows humor, he missed the ever-mysterious 27 Club, the group of pop-culture icons, like Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Brian Jones, to name a few, who have all died at age 27.

But in all seriousness, I thought he was a great actor, and I'm sure he will be greatly missed. R.I.P. Heath Ledger.
