ItsOnTap.com: A Preview

My roommates and I are starting up a new blog called It's on Tap. As the name suggests, it's a blog about beer. While I may have told you that it had launched in a previous post, if you visited, you noticed that it wasn't. Sorry about that. I guess we're still working on some things. But that means I've been writing posts that you all can't read.

So I figured I would put them to use and post one or two of them here in the meantime. So, this first one is one I just wrote about a $7,450 cocktail. Enjoy.

The $7,450 Cocktail

If you ever find yourself in Dubai and in the mood for one of the world's most expensive cocktails, look no further than the Skyview Bar on the 27th floor of the Burj Al Arab hotel. Just opening its doors this past April, the Burj Al Arab is the tallest hotel in the world, not to mention one of the most luxurious. So should you have the money to visit, there's a chance you may have an extra $7,450 in your pocket. If so, this is a must have. But for those of us who don't, well, we can dream, right?

This prodigal concoction begins with The Macallan 55 year single malt scotch, which had a run of only 420 bottles and comes in a crystal Lalique decanter, with a $12,000 price tag. That boils down to just about $473 per ounce. Yikes.

The Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai It's mixed with dried fruit bitters designed to accentuate its taste as well as handmade passionfruit sugar. The drink is served in an 18kt gold goblet over ice cubes made at the Macallan distillery from the same water source as the scotch, and stirred with a wooden stirring stick crafted from a Macallan scotch cask stave. All for just $7,450.

If it's any consolation, you get to keep the goblet. It's not...
