Kevin Durant Just Made The Decision Harder
When the Blazers got the first pick, I jumped right to the conclusion to pick Greg Oden. He seemed like the logical choice. Kevin Durant was good, but he wouldn't make the transition to the pros as well as Oden would. At least that's what I thought...
Kevin Durant worked out with the Trail Blazers today, and boy did he look good. He ran really, really hard for a long time, showed great speed and quickness both in full-court and half-court drills, and proved he can shoot just as well as he can dunk, and boy can he dunk. For being 6'9", the kid can get off the floor. Also, he's a pretty solid 6'9" as far as his body goes. He's a thick guy for as quick and athletic as he is. Now, as the billboard suggests, it seems like the Blazers' management has finally got the message that the Portland fans really care about this team, so they are trying to reach out to fans for input. Even if they're not taking it, it's a big step for these guys, coming from the "jail blazers" era. Anyways, what I was trying to get at is that, ultimately, it's up to the organization. It's up to guys like Paul Allen, Kevin Pritchard and Nate McMillan. So given their reactions after today's workout, the decision only gets harder.
Kevin Pritchard said things like "That was an incredible workout.", "That was as impressive as any workout I've ever seen in here." (speaking about the practice facility), and "The kid was built to play basketball." Nate McMillan was equally impressed, yet emphasized that "there's not a consensus." Paul Allen was impressed too, but really, who cares. These guys certainly talked better about Durant than they did Oden.
Now, maybe it was just one good workout, or maybe he's the real deal, but the truth of the matter is that today, Kevin Durant made the Blazers' draft decision a lot harder.

I cant support a number one draft pick that couldnt bench 185 pounds once. I am all for Oden!
