The iPod Vending Machine
I was at Lloyd Center this weekend, just wasting time before going out and celebrating Hayley's birthday (which was a blast by the way). She and I were walking around Macy's, and as we headed for the escalator, I saw this. I wasn't exactly sure what it was walking up because I hadn't seen one before, but when I got up to it, I realized it was an iPod vending machine. Apparently they're more common than I thought, too. It has a touch screen display that lets you browse through what's in stock, and the selection consists of everything you could want for an iPod, including another iPod. The iPods were actually out of stock, and I can't imagine they keep many in there. I assume these have Fort Knox-like security, but what kind of demand can you expect? IPods don't seem like impulse purchases like a bag of chips or some mike & ikes, but maybe the accessories are, I don't know. All I know is that this is a great idea assuming people will use them, and seems like a very Apple thing to do.
