I'm Going (Back) to Vegas! And Then (Back) Again!

Good news folks, I'm headed back to Vegas in a few weeks, and then back again for Spring Break! I can tell how excited you are by the way you're cursing at me right now, and hey, I can't blame you. But it's true, I'm going to Vegas twice in as many months, which will make 3 times in one year. That's just crazy, and I just wanted to share a little of what I'll be doing down there with you, good Blogarrheans. So please, sit back, relax, and check out the 2 reasons that I will be broke by the beginning of Spring term.

For a little background, the first time I went was for my 21st birthday last year with my dad, and it was a really fun experience. I did a ton of stuff for one trip: I saw the Cirque du Soleil show LOVE, went to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, almost accidentally wasted my time to see Kevin Federline, saw Hef and the girls signing autographs, glanced at Pete Rose for about a second before turning to look at Hef's girls again, went to the Playboy Lounge at the Palms and some other cool clubs, sampled the fine buffet cuisine, gambled a whole bunch, and drank even more. A really fun trip.

Like I said, I went with my dad that time, but this next time I'm going with my dad and two of his work friends that I got to know pretty well over the summer who are a lot of fun, so it should be more fun this time, if my math is right. We're going for 4 nights, which is a long time to be in Vegas, and we're staying at the Mandalay Bay, which I went into the first trip, but only once for about an hour, so I didn't really see it, so it will be nice to be somewhere new. Here's some of the stuff I'm in for this trip:

  • A "Royal Shave" at The Art of Shaving, a Vegas barbershop. This is a man's version of "going to the spa" I guess, but a "royal shave" is like "the works" for a shave. It's a 45 minute session, and I've never had my face shaved at a barbershop before, so it should be a lot of fun.
  • Dinner at miX, the restaurant/nightclub at the top of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. This is a really nice restaurant, easily the nicest I'll have ever been to, and the most expensive. I'm really looking forward to going to one of Vegas' many amazing restaurants.
  • LOVE, the Cirque du Soleil show. Yep, I'm seeing it again! This was the most amazing spectacle I had ever seen, and I'm really excited to see it again. I love The Beatles!
  • O, another Cirque du Soleil show. This one I haven't seen. It's the water-based one (the title takes its name from "eau", the French word for "water"). These shows are incredible, so I'm excited to see another one.
  • MORE gambling
  • MORE drinking
This is going to be an amazing trip, and for different reasons than the first one I think. The first one was taking it all in; getting the experience of being there. But now that I've done that and know generally what to expect, and am going with 3 Vegas vets, I think this trip is going to be even more fun. Nothing will replace my first trip, for many reasons, but this is going to be a very different trip.

Speaking of different trips, I'm going AGAIN over Spring Break. A few of my roommates and I have talked about going to Vegas over Spring Break a lot, and after we got broken into, that idea kind of went away. BUT, after we learned that we were insured, we decided that this was the time to make the decision to do it. So we got on Expedia, looked for the most affordable flight-hotel combo, and just booked it. We paid for it then so we were committed to it. It's also nice to have all that paid for so that no matter what happens, we're going.

So, we're doing more of a "college kid" trip this time, which means staying at a decent hotel and flying cheap, so we're taking the red eye there and staying 3 nights at the Flamingo.

This trip is going to be way different from the other 2 because it's with my college friends, so we'll do different things. We're probably not going to catch any shows or anything, too spendy, and will spend more time going to the pool, walking around, gambling, and drinking. A lot less money-intensive activities.

There's not a set agenda, just kind of a "lets have a crazy, fun, don't get arrested time!" attitude about it all. I imagine it's going to be quite crazy, and hopefully some stuff happens that goes with the "what happens in, stays in" mantra. What I really hope for is that I have the kind of time that Tucker Max did when he went. I'm reading his book right now, and while he's just some random dude who's a huge asshole, he's got some awesome stories, and that's all his book is. His trip is ridiculous, and I would love to have that much fun. We'll see.

So, I guess that's it. Keep an eye on the weather there with the new weather widget at the top of the page, and hope I come hope with a suitcase full of money (which I may or may not have stolen from a hooker). Who knows, maybe I'll scout out some places to put my casino I'm going to build and own.

Looking forward to it Kevbo. From a dad's point of view, it is equally thrilling. By the way, we are staying 4 nights. As for your second trip, I especially like the "not getting arrested" part.

Ah, right, I will make the edit.

And I thought you would like that part. But you know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so...

Just kidding. We're all responsible kids with futures that we would like to keep on track.
