More room for Costa in the Heisman race

Ok, so that's probably as far fetched as Leaf winning a Heisman next year, but hey, I think he's got just about as much chance as Dixon or Brady have to start next year. We burned his redshirt last year for less than a quarter, but when he was in he looked to me to have as much pocket presence as Dixon with a good amount of speed, and didn't turn the ball over or have wasted plays like Brady does, and he seemed pretty calm and confident, being a freshman and all. I have a lot of faith in him if we'll just give him a shot and let him grow into a Kellen Clemens type of QB that everyone feels they can rely on. At least that's where I'm positioned right now.

The initial point of this post, however, is to say that Adrian Peterson has chosen to forgo his senior season at Oklahoma and enter the NFL Draft. Good for him too, because he's definitely going to be an NFL running back, and this year was probably as close as he's going to get to a national championship, so probably a good choice. I think he'll go somewhere in the middle of the top of the first round. It would have been higher if he wasn't out all this year, but that'll only drop him a little bit because he proved what kind of player he was when he came back to play in the Fiesta Bowl. Plus, as ESPN reports, "he still finished the season with 1,012 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns."

But regardless of where he goes, the point is he's going. Now it's time to hope that either Dixon or Costa, or even Brady, will step up and earn the starting spot consistently so they can put up Heisman numbers. Or, just give the ball to Stewart 30 times a game and let him barrel through people for a huge year. He probably deserves it more than the other 3. But now is the time to get my hopes WAY up and root for a top 10 year next year. GO DUCKS!
