Oscars: A Recap

So the Oscars were last night. All 4 hours of them. All I really cared about was the big 6 categories (picture, director, actors & actresses), and first off I'd like to say that I was 10-12 in predicting those categories. Check out my picks here, but the only ones I missed when picking both who should win and who will win was Eddie Murphy didn't win for Dreamgirls like I thought would happen, and Adriana Barraza didn't win for Babel like I thought should have happen. 10-12 ain't bad.

But enough about me, while watching last night, I had a few problems with the ceremony. While I thought Ellen was pretty funny albeit a bit offensive to the ceremony, they need to cut out the hosts little bits. She sort of reduced the Oscars to talk show status with her humor, but was it really necessary? Going along with that, they need to give the winners a little more time to speak. I mean, they did just win the biggest award they could have; they spent all year on this thing, if not longer, so give them a little bit more respect. You could also save time by cutting out all the needless montages and video clips. Keep the "who we've lost" and all the important ones, but ditch the needless ones like the best picture nominees showcases. That's my opinion.

I guess all I'm saying is make the Oscars about the Oscars again.

As long as I've been watching.....40 years or so.....it is typical and constant to criticize the show itself...kinda funny. That is why few hosts are capable of withstanding the pressure. Except for Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, and Billy Crystal, everyone else has suffered from not quite making the grade. I thought it went ok.
