Oh Portland

Being a working man this summer has its pros and cons. The pros? Money, obviously, and also the way working all week makes me appreciate the weekends more. The cons? I have to work. While at work, i'm limited to exactly 0 minutes of internet access a day (thankfully I can blog from my phone), so lately most of my news comes from the by-weekly Portland Tribune newspaper. All journalistic points aside, it seems like there is an awful lot of alcohol all over its pages this summer. Maybe I just notice more now that i'm 21, but it seems like Portland has 50 brew festivals this summer. The one pictured was the largest of the ads in Friday's edition. It's for ''Beerzilla'', a beerfest in the Pearl District this weekend. I think the picture is pretty darn funny. Makes me think of the Meet The Robinsons commercial with the trex and his little arms. Anyways, I guess my point is Portland has a lot of brew fests this summer and i want to go to them. And i'm bored at work and felt like blogging.

I just got home from this Beerfest. It was my first and I enjoyed it a lot. I'll admit that I stuck to the "water" as my dad called it, but it was fun nonetheless.

As much as you may like Coors Light, you HAVE to try different beers at something like this. Portland is like the Mecca of Microbrews. Glad you had fun though, we should get out to some others this summer.
